How to Make Birria with Güero & Maria's Birria Spice Blend
Ingredients:

2-3 pounds of meat (beef, goat, or lamb)

1 package of Güero & Maria's Birria Spice Blend

4 cups of water or broth

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 large onion, chopped

4 garlic cloves, minced

Salt to taste

Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Lime wedges (for serving)

Corn tortillas (for serving)

Prepare the Meat:

Cut the meat into large chunks.

In a large pot, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium heat.

Add the meat and sear until browned on all sides.

2. Cook the Birria:

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot. Cook until softened.

Pour in 4 cups of water or broth and stir in Güero & Maria's Birria Spice Blend.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 2-3 hours, or until the meat is tender and falls apart easily.
3. Serve:

Shred the meat with forks and return to the pot to mix with the broth.

Serve the birria in bowls, garnished with fresh cilantro and lime wedges.

Instructions:
1. Mix Dough
- Combine 2 cups masa harina and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
- Gradually add 1.5 to 2 cups warm water until the dough feels like playdough.
2. Rest Dough
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it sit for 30 minutes.
3. Shape Tortillas
- Divide the dough into 12 balls.
- Flatten each ball between plastic wrap using a tortilla press or rolling pin.
4. Cook Tortillas
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook each tortilla for 30-60 seconds on each side until lightly browned.
5. Keep Warm
- Stack cooked tortillas in a clean towel to keep them warm and soft.
